The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is seeking Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) for Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) in Gunnison, Colorado. Qualification

To qualify for the SV-D pay band (equivalent to GS-5/6), you must meet either the experience or education requirement. Experience: one year of full-time work in security, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician. Education: a high school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC certificate.

Role Responsibilities

Operate screening equipment (X-ray, metal detectors, etc.) to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers.

  • Conduct physical searches including pat-downs, bag searches, and lifting/carrying items up to 50 lbs.
  • Control terminal entry and exit points to ensure only authorized individuals access secure areas.
  • Interact with the public, provide directions, and respond to inquiries in a courteous manner.
  • Maintain focus and awareness in a stressful environment with noise, distractions, and time pressure.
