Job Description
Olympic College is building an applicant pool for Math Tutor positions at its Bremerton (Primary) Campus. Tutors assist students create understanding, insight, problem-solving, and critical thinking expertise in mathematics course materials. This is an hourly post scheduled to function up to 18 hours per week.
This role reports to the Director of Tutoring and involves operating in a high-attendance, high-volume study center. Tutors assist students with analyzing assignments, interpreting mathematical concepts, developing productive study habits, and functioning in an online format.
The college is continuously recruiting for these positions, and people who register are considered active for 12 months. Sending in an submission doesn’t guarantee a role will be available or offered. This role suits individuals who excel in mathematics and enjoy helping others succeed.

Salary & Compensation
Pay / Pay Package: $20 - $26 per hour.
Qualification
To be considered for the Math Tutor position, you must encounter the following minimum qualifications. A reference from an instructor or professor is needed if you’re a present Olympic College student.
- High school graduate, equivalent, or existing Running Kick off student.
- Completion of MATH 141 (or equivalent course) with a decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
- Core computer competency.
- Reference from an instructor or professor if you’re a present Olympic College student.
- Desired: College teaching or previous tutoring background.
- Desired: Completion of Math 141, Math 142, Math 151, Math 152, and Math 163 or equivalent courses with grades of 3.5 or higher.
- Reveal excellence in mathematics.
- Capacity to perform various hours and abide by campus regulations.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
- Support students interpret and comprehend mathematical concepts.
- Grow students' critical thinking and mathematical communication abilities.
- Assist students in developing reliable study habits and competencies.
- Support students operating in an online format.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Operate successfully in a high-attendance, high-volume study center.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication expertise.

Additional Information
- This recruitment establishes an candidate pool for coming vacancies. Submissions are active for 12 months.
- Hourly employees must perform 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to turn into eligible for health benefits.
- Hourly employees must operate 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to grow into eligible for retirement.
