Job Description

Olympic College is recruiting for Geography Adjunct Faculty to teach introductory and advanced geography courses on a part-time basis at its Bremerton Campus and other locations.

This position reports to the Interim Dean of STEM and involves preparing syllabi, delivering instruction, grading, and maintaining student records. The role is ideal for educators who can communicate geographic concepts effectively and use technology in teaching.

Adjunct positions are filled on a quarter-by-quarter basis from a continuous applicant pool. Applicants remain active for 12 months and may be contacted when vacancies occur. The college values diversity and seeks instructors who can work with many students and colleagues.

Qualification

A Master's degree in Geography is required. A related Master's degree with substantial graduate-level Geography coursework may be considered. Computer skills including Microsoft applications are necessary.

Role Responsibilities

Prepare and teach developmental and/or college-level Geography courses.

  • Provide high-quality, enthusiastic instruction including related preparation and grading.
  • Provide class syllabi to students and to the division office as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms and records as required.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening instruction.
  • May include teaching at Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton campuses.
  • Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Adjunct positions are contracted on a quarterly basis and are not eligible for benefits upon initial hire.
  • Adjunct faculty must work 50% of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible for benefits.
