Job Description
Olympic College is building an applicant pool for General Tutor positions at its Bremerton Campus. Tutors help students develop skills in disciplines such as Biology, Composition, Engineering, English, Languages, and Writing.
You will assist students with assignments, interpret discipline-specific problems, clarify critical thinking and communication skills, and support online learning. This role reports to the Director of Tutoring and is part of the Instruction & Classroom Support Tech 1 classification.
The college continuously recruits for these positions throughout the year, and applications remain active for 12 months. This is a great opportunity for current students or graduates who excel academically and want to support peers in a high-volume study center environment.
Qualification
To qualify, you must have completed the course(s) you wish to tutor with a grade of 3.5 or higher. You need a high school diploma or equivalent, or be a current Running Start student. A reference from an instructor or professor is required if you are a current Olympic College student.

Role Responsibilities
Provide academic support to students in one or more non-STEM subject areas.
- Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
- Help students interpret discipline-specific problems and situations.
- Clarify critical thinking and communication skills for students.
- Support students working in an online format.
- Follow campus regulations and local, state, and federal laws.
- Work successfully in high-attendance, high-volume study centers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information
This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week.

- Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits.
- Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.
