Job Description
The Department of the Navy is hiring an Electrician Leader (WL-10) to work at the Point Loma Complex in San Diego, California.
In this role, you will lead a team of electricians performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment, systems, generators, switchboards, and control equipment in a shipyard environment.
You will determine placement of electrical distribution panels and other equipment, and use theoretical practices of the trade to repair faulty electrical equipment or systems on nuclear ships. The position involves operating power tools such as pipe benders.. Cutters..
And power drills to cut.. Bend.. Fit.. And thread components.. As well as using hand tools and test equipment to check alignment.. Output.. And resistance to ground.
You will diagnose faulty electrical equipment or systems to determine rework or replacement of faulty components on nuclear ship alterations and repairs.

Salary & Compensation
Estimated market salary: $95,000 - $175,000 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for the Electrician Leader (WL-10) position, you must demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at this level. The screen-out element for this job is ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on this element will be found ineligible.
- Ability to lead or supervise (screen-out element).
- Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair in a shipyard or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and practices, especially related to nuclear ship systems.
- Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment for electrical work.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test (including marijuana).
- Must be registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-59).

Salary range: $30.11
- $50.37 per hour (WL-10 grade).

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites.
- Must participate in medical surveillance programs due to exposure to harmful agents.
- Drug testing position: pre-employment and random drug testing required.
