Job Description
The Department of the Navy is hiring an Electronics Mechanic Leader (WL-11) for its shipyard and maintenance facilities, with a primary location at Point Loma Complex in San Diego, CA.
This full-time role involves leading a team of electronics mechanics, providing on-the-job technical guidance, coordinating work schedules, and performing the more difficult tasks yourself.
You will lay out work assignments, instruct subordinates on unusual steps, and check work in progress and upon completion to ensure adherence to procedures and deadlines.
This position is ideal for experienced electronics mechanics who have demonstrated leadership ability and want to apply their skills in a federal shipyard environment supporting Navy fleet readiness.
The role requires a US citizen who can obtain a security clearance and pass a drug test.
Salary & Compensation
Salary / Pay Package: $35 - $53 per hour.
Qualification
This WL-11 Electronics Mechanic Leader position requires demonstrated ability to lead or supervise, which is the screen-out element. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the quality of your experience and training, not necessarily the length of time. You must show through experience and training that you possess the knowledge and skill to perform the duties at this level.

Role Responsibilities

- Pay range: $34.97
- $53.30 per hour (WL-11 grade).
- Must be a US citizen and pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test (including marijuana).
- Must obtain and maintain a security clearance; failure to do so may result in removal.
- This is a bargaining unit position and may require travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- Work may involve exposure to high noise levels, fumes, dust, heat, radiation, and chemicals; personal protective equipment is required.
