ELECTRICIAN LEADER, Department of the Navy – Agency Wide Job in San Diego

Estimated marketplace pay: $95,000 - $175,000 per year.

To qualify for the Electrician Leader (WL-10) post, you must reveal through experience and training that you possess the standard level of knowledge and competence required to perform the tasks at this level. The screen-out element for this role is Capacity TO LEAD OR Manage. Candidates who don’t receive a minimum of two points on this element will be located ineligible.

• Aptitude to lead or oversee (screen-out element).
• Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair in a shipyard or industrial environment.
• Expertise of electrical theory and practices, particularly related to nuclear ship systems.
• Ability in using hand tools, power resources, and test equipment for electrical work.
• Capacity to go through and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Expertise with troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical faults.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and uphold a security clearance.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test (such as marijuana).
• Must be registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-59).

Lead a group of electricians in installing, keeping up, and repairing electrical equipment on nuclear ships.

• Decide placement of electrical distribution panels and other equipment.
• Use theoretical practices to repair faulty electrical equipment or systems on nuclear ships.
• Work power instruments such as pipe benders, cutters, and power drills.
• Use hand tools and test equipment to inspect alignment, output, and resistance to ground.
• Diagnose faulty electrical equipment or systems to work out rework or replacement.
• Guarantee compliance with safety regulations and wear personal protective equipment as needed.
• May need to function uncommon tours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• May need travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, covering remote or isolated sites.
