The City of Tacoma, known as the City of Destiny, is a vibrant municipal government serving approximately 221,000 residents along Commencement Bay in Washington state. As of July 2026, the City of Tacoma continues to implement its Alternative Response programming, including the HEAL Team, HOPE Team, and Community Service Officers, to connect residents with appropriate services. The City Council recently adopted stronger environmental protections and is exploring a $20 per hour minimum wage proposal. The City also launched a new Voluntary Demolition Salvage Program and an online resource hub for immigrant and refugee communities. Tacoma FIRST 311 has addressed nearly 850,000 requests since 2013.
