About County of Sacramento
Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is the lead agency for emergency management in Sacramento County, California. Operating under the Sacramento Ready brand, OES coordinates disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts across the county. The office maintains comprehensive emergency plans consistent with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and California’s Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), ensuring readiness for a wide range of hazards including wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and extreme heat. OES also manages the Sacramento Alert mass notification system in partnership with Yolo and Placer counties, and oversees the county's StormReady designation through the National Weather Service.
As of July 2026, Sacramento County OES continues to strengthen community resilience through expanded emergency alert testing, severe weather preparedness, and youth engagement. Recent initiatives include bi-annual emergency alert system tests launched in April 2026, renewal of the StormReady designation through September 2030, and support for the annual YMCA Youth & Government Conference. The office also activated hot weather respite services in June 2026 in partnership with First Step Communities.
