About Data and Analytics Office (DAO)-Research, Applied Analytics & Statistics (RAAS
The Data and Analytics Office (DAO) – Research, Applied Analytics & Statistics (RAAS) is a unit within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the federal agency responsible for tax collection and enforcement in the United States. RAAS conducts research and analysis to support tax administration, including studies on taxpayer compliance, the tax gap, and filing projections. The office produces statistical publications such as the IRS Data Book, SOI Bulletins, and filing season statistics, and organizes the annual IRS Research Conference to foster dialogue among researchers, tax administrators, and academics. RAAS is part of the IRS's Statistics of Income (SOI) division, which has been collecting and publishing tax data since 1917.

The Data and Analytics Office (DAO) – Research, Applied Analytics & Statistics (RAAS) is the IRS unit responsible for producing statistical research and data products related to taxpayer compliance, burden, and projections.
