About DLA Disposition Services
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is the nation's logistics combat support agency, managing the end-to-end global defense supply chain for the five military services, 11 combatant commands, other federal, state and local agencies, and partner and allied nations. Headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, DLA employs about 25,000 people and provides more than $51.8 billion in goods and services annually. Its mission is to drive and sustain warfighter readiness by delivering unmatched global support. DLA's offerings include equipment disposition, document services, products and materials, services, and programs. The agency is responsible for contracting, purchasing, storing, and distributing most consumable, expendable, and repairable items for the Department of Defense, including food, clothing, fuel, repair parts, medical supplies, and construction equipment. DLA also disposes of excess military property through reutilization, transfer, donation, and demilitarization programs. The agency operates through major subordinate commands including DLA Disposition Services (Battle Creek, MI), DLA Distribution (New Cumberland, PA), DLA Energy (Fort Belvoir, VA), DLA Troop Support (Philadelphia, PA), and DLA Weapons Support (Columbus, OH and Richmond, VA). Regional commands cover Europe & Africa, CENTCOM & SOCOM, and the Pacific. DLA's strategic plan for 2025-2030 focuses on people, precision, posture, and partnerships.
