About Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board
The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) is an independent federal agency of the United States government responsible for administering the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), a retirement savings and investment plan for federal civilian employees and members of the uniformed services. The TSP is widely considered one of the best retirement plans in the world and a model for defined contribution plans. FRTIB's mission is to administer the TSP solely in the interest of its participants and beneficiaries, helping millions prepare for retirement with dignity. The agency is headquartered at 77 K Street, N.E., Suite 1000, Washington, D.C. 20002.
As of July 2026, FRTIB continues to administer the TSP with a focus on improving participant retirement outcomes, providing top-tier defined contribution service, and transitioning to a managed services operating model. The agency recently announced the selection of Mike Jerue as Chief Investment Officer in March 2026.
