Adjunct Faculty – Surgical Technologist Program is listed by Olympic College. Olympic College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty participant for its Surgical Technologist Program in Bremerton, Washington.
This role provides instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings to get ready students for professions as surgical technologists. The faculty participant performs with the Scheme Director to ensure compliance with ARC/STSA and CAHEEP accreditation standards.
Function in this role contains developing course materials, assessing student performance, supervising clinical rotations, and maintaining exact records. This role also involves curriculum development, staying present with surgical technology advancements, and participating in faculty meetings.
This is a quarterly contracted adjunct role covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE) collective bargaining agreement. Evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be called for. The college values inclusive teaching practices and student accomplishment.
Salary & Compensation
Pay / Settle Package: $1,000 per year.
Qualification
You must grip an Associate’s degree or higher in Surgical Technology from an accredited plan and be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA. A minimum of three years of clinical background in the scrub role or as an instructor within the past five years is needed.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Surgical Technology from a program with recognized programmatic accreditation.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Minimum three years of clinical experience in the running room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology (or a combination) within the past five years.
- Sturdy communication, organizational, and interpersonal expertise.
- Expertise of curriculum and scheme evaluation of student learning and performance.
- Commitment to student achievement and inclusive teaching practices.
- Proficiency with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, prior teaching expertise in higher education (notably community college), know-how with curriculum development and accreditation processes, and background in clinical coordination or supervision.
Role Responsibilities
Provide instruction in Surgical Technology courses covering lecture, lab, and clinical settings.
- Create and hand over course materials aligned with plan objectives, accreditation conditions, and industry standards.
- Assess student performance through exams, hands-on demonstrations, and competency evaluations.
- Oversee and mentor students during clinical rotations to make sure proper competence development and patient safety.
- Retain correct records of student progress, attendance, and evaluations per college policies.
- Aid with curriculum development and scheme assessment to keep up accreditation compliance.
- Remain updated with advancements in surgical technology and integrate new proven techniques into instruction.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development activities.

Additional Information
This is an adjunct faculty post contracted on a quarterly basis; placement on the pay schedule is commensurate with education and expertise.
- Adjuncts aren’t eligible for advantages upon early recruit but may become eligible after functioning 50% of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters.
- Evening, weekend, and satellite campus assignments may be called for, such as travel to clinical sites.
- A background inspect including criminal record history will be conducted before take on.
- You must complete a Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as needed by Washington state law.
- Employees must reside in Washington State within a reasonable distance of the campus.
