Job Description
You’ll assist as a Biologist for the Pacific Reefs National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Honolulu, Hawaii. Your leading duties are to strategy, grow, arrange, and carry out the biological programs for the refuge/complicated, or a limited segment of biological programs.
This role is perfect for a scientist with a robust background in biological sciences who wants to apply their expertise to conservation and wildlife management in the Pacific region. The role is full-time, permanent, and telework eligible as determined by agency policy.
First-time hires to the federal public sector typically start at step 1 of the GS-9 grade. A Cost of Living Allowance of 8.64% is authorized.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $64,438 - $101,359 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for this GS-9 Biologist role, you must gather the core educational requirement and have at least one year of specialized know-how equivalent to GS-7, or possess a master's degree in a right away related field. This role is unseal to U.S.

- Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural tool management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the role.

- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in the federal solution, such as carrying out field experiments, collecting and analyzing biological figures, developing databases, and getting ready reports.
- OR successful completion of two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a straight related discipline.
- OR combination of graduate education and specialized expertise that meets the qualification needs.
- All qualifications must be met by the closing date of August 11, 2026.
- Time-in-Grade conditions must be met for existing or former federal employees.

- Volunteer know-how, such as through National Offering programs, is qualifying.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Register professional expertise of theories, principles, and concepts of chemistry, toxicology, hydrology, entomology, limnology, parasitology, and ecology.
- Apply field and laboratory techniques to round up and analyze samples and put in statistical procedures for interpretation of study findings.
- Communicate in writing to arrange correspondence, scientific and administrative reports, management schemes, and similar documents.
- Organize and track data records.
- Form positive functioning relationships and exercise tact and diplomacy in coordinating activities with co-workers, representatives of other federal agencies, state, tribal and nearby institutions, conservation bodies, and the general public.
- Plan, build, organize, and put in place biological programs for the refuge/intricate.
- Carry out routine field experiments using various data-collection systems and extract and analyze data.
- Assemble, organize, and interpret many biological, ecological, and pathological records pertinent to scientific studies.
- Develop and keep up computer databases; run geospatial analysis; collect, analyze, tabulate, and summarize scientific, programmatic, and/or budgetary data.
- Participate in the development of reports, briefings, presentations, and training materials on analytical findings and recommendations.
