Job Description

The 628 Force Support Squadron is hiring a Customer Service Clerk for the Redbank Golf Course located on the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, South Carolina. This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position supporting Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.

As a Customer Service Clerk, you will work as a pro-shop sales clerk and cashier-checker. Your primary duties include selling merchandise such as clothing, footwear, golf clubs, golf accessories, and sporting goods.

You will operate a cash register, process sales, receive payments, make change, handle credit card transactions, and charge to member accounts.

You will also process green fees, rental services, storage fees, and special orders, validate advanced green fee cards, log tee times, answer the telephone, and assist patrons with product questions and fitting.

This is an intermittent position with no guaranteed hours; you may work anywhere from 0 to 40 hours per week depending on mission and programming requirements. The role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible, part-time work in a golf course retail environment.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $15 per hour.

Qualification

This position is open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference and priority consideration eligibilities. You must meet the qualifying experience requirements described below.

  • Open to all U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.
  • Must have responsible clerical, office cash handling, or retail sales work demonstrating ability to perform at the NF-1 grade level.
  • Experience must show knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, ability to resolve common arithmetic problems when receiving payment, and ability to operate a cash register.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English.
  • Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position.
  • Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. standards.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Direct deposit is required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a pro-shop sales clerk and cashier-checker.
  • Sell merchandise including clothing, footwear, golf clubs, golf accessories, sporting goods, and other items.
  • Operate cash register, ring up sales, receive money, make change, process credit card sales, and charge to member accounts.
  • Process advanced and daily green fees, rental services, storage fees, and special orders.
  • Validate advanced green fee cards.
  • Explain product use, answer customer questions, and assist patrons in fitting wearing apparel.
  • Log tee times.
  • Answer telephone.
  • Display merchandise and maintain the pro-shop in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assist in pricing merchandise.

Conditions & Requirements

  • Must complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals must have resided in the U.S. Territory for three or more consecutive years immediately preceding Federal affiliation.
  • May require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Pre-employment requirements must be met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.
