Qualification

You must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college meeting California Secretary of Agriculture standards.. A legitimate County Deputy Agricultural Commissioner or Deputy Sealer of Weights and Measures license.. And three years of increasingly responsible enforcement experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university meeting California Secretary of Agriculture standards.
  • Possession of a sound County Deputy Agricultural Commissioner license OR County Deputy Sealer of Weights and Measures license.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in enforcement of agricultural and/or weights and measures laws and regulations.
  • Possession of a legitimate Class C California driver's license.
  • Open only to eligible employees of the Kern County Department of Agriculture and Measurement Standards (Department Promotional).
  • Must attain at least 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enforce agricultural and weights and measures laws and regulations within Kern County.
  • Oversee and organize inspection programs for agricultural commodities and measurement devices.
  • Carry out investigations and inspections to confirm compliance with state and county standards.
  • Arrange reports and documentation on enforcement activities and findings.
  • Give guidance and training to workforce on regulatory requirements and enforcement procedures.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and departments on cross-jurisdictional enforcement matters.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints about agricultural and measurement problems.
  • Participate in the development and execution of departmental policies and procedures.
