The Loma Linda VA Healthcare System is hiring a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to join the Imaging Service Line at the Jerry L Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, California.

Qualification
To qualify for this Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist role at GS-5 through GS-8, you must meet core needs covering U.S. Citizenship, English proficiency, ARRT (R) certification, and completion of a JRCERT-accredited training scheme. Non-certified entry-level you may be considered under a temporary appointment at GS-5.

- Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).

- Non-certified entry-level you may be temporarily appointed as graduate DRTs under 38 U.S.C. § 7405(c)(2)(B) for up to two years, supplied they gather all other eligibility conditions and work under supervision of a certified DRT.
- GS-5: No experience beyond fundamental needs; performs routine procedures under general supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Get and interpret written requests or instructions for radiographic procedures.
- Independently clarify procedures to patients, post patients for optimal findings, and cushion and shield patients when suitable.
- Administer contrast materials orally, by enema, or intravenously under the supervision of a radiologist or other medical officer.
- Analyze patient needs, decide and choose technical factors for optimum diagnostic quality, set controls, and operate equipment.
- Perform standard control procedures as called for and keep up an adequate level of supplies and safety equipment.
- Run direct radiography equipment and tackle various challenging examinations.
- Safe the confidence and cooperation of patients during procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment employed for diagnostic radiology and report significant malfunctions to solution representatives.
- Assist higher graded technologists in performing more involved examinations as needed.
- Perform developmental tasks involving more intricate procedures under closer supervision at lower grade levels.
