Silicon Valley Power (SVP).. The electric utility for the City of Santa Clara.. Is hiring an Electric Utility Engineer to load several vacancies across its Operations.. Engineering and CIP Projects.. And System Planning and Asset Management divisions.
SVP gives over 40 percent of Santa Clara's electricity from carbon-free renewable references, covering wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric projects, as well as innovative nearby generation from landfill methane and solar arrays on city-owned properties. In the Operations Division, the engineer will work on communication and electrical power engineering, such as programming industrial multiplexer networks. A robust interest in industrial high-speed records networking is necessary.
For the Engineering and CIP Projects Division, perform in this role includes substation design, transmission and distribution systems, and managing capital improvement projects to aid utility rise. You should have a sturdy background in electric systems.
The System Planning and Asset Management Division role centers on keeping up the distribution system model, participating in integrated system planning, and spotting projects to support load expansion and refine reliability.
Salary & Compensation
Pay / Settle Package: $185,797 - $236,936 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for the Electric Utility Engineer post.. You must encounter one of the following education and expertise combinations: a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus two years of electric utility engineering operate..
Or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus three years of utility know-how with proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Term.. Excel.. PowerPoint.. MATLAB).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university AND two years of electric utility engineering background.
- OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (other discipline) AND three years of electric utility engineering expertise, covering use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering may substitute for one year of know-how.
- An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with ten years of electric utility engineering background can substitute for the degree and needed expertise.
- Legitimate California Class C driver's license called for at appointment and for duration of employment.
- Desirable: Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineer in California.
- Desirable: Know-how with ESRI-based GIS, system modeling software (e.g., Aspen OneLiner, GE PSLF, DEW ISM).
- Must be fit to function rare hours in emergencies or as a supervisor.
- Must pass each phase of the examination process to qualify for the eligible set.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform engineering work in communication and electrical power engineering for the Operations Division, such as programming industrial multiplexer networks.
- Help with substation design, transmission and distribution systems for the Engineering and CIP Projects Division.
- Manage or help with managing Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) to assist electric utility increase.
- Keep up the distribution system model and participate in integrated system planning for the System Planning and Asset Management Division.
- Identify and implement projects to support load rise and improve distribution system reliability.
- Perform with clients and developers on their projects, coordinating with town departments and SVP field and operations team.
- Arrange reports and provide distribution system effects to other SVP groups.
