The City of Santee Fire Department is hiring an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Non-Safety to join its emergency response crew. Under the direction of a Fire Captain.. You’ll respond to medical emergencies and other emergency and non-emergency situations..
Give patient assessment and treatment per San Diego County protocols.. And assist on ALS fire companies and ambulances. Operate in this role includes keeping up medical equipment, getting ready reports, driving ambulances, and performing station and equipment maintenance.
This full-time post gives 12 or 24-hour shifts and may require mandatory overtime to confirm continuous ALS ambulance staffing. This role suits certified EMTs who thrive in fast-paced, life-saving environments and are committed to public offering.

Salary / Pay Package: $21 per hour.
Qualification
To qualify for this EMT role.. You must gather the following minimum needs at the time of take on: 18 years of age.. High school diploma or equivalent.. Sound California EMT-B certification with San Diego County accreditation.. A California Class C driver's license.. An ambulance driver's certificate.. And AHA BLS CPR certification.
- Years of age or older.
- Valid California EMT-B certification with San Diego County accreditation (must be maintained throughout employment.
- California Class C driver's license.
- Ambulance driver's certificate.
- AHA BLS CPR certification or equivalent.
- Very desirable: minimum three months paid EMT experience on an ambulance or first responder company.
- Extremely desirable: expertise as an EMT on a Santee-Lakeside EMS transport unit.
- Very desirable: completion of a paramedic preparatory class or paramedic certification.
Role Responsibilities
Respond safely to fire, medical, and other emergency calls with an emergency response group.
- Perform emergency medical patient assessment and treatment per San Diego County EMS protocols.
- Supply emergency medical care on ALS fire companies and ALS ambulances.
- Keep up and replenish medical equipment, medication, and supplies.
- Uphold records and arrange written reports.
- Drive and work workforce vehicles and ambulances as needed.
- Assist with maintenance of vehicles, equipment, fire station, and grounds.
- Take part in drills, training, and conferences; grasp fire department rules and procedures.
