Where you will lead a cross-functional technical team of engineers and contractors to develop innovative manufacturing solutions for advanced Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems.
Your work will directly address fleet readiness and sustainment challenges by improving manufacturing processes and prototyping new designs.
Qualification
To qualify for this GS-13 Engineering Technician position.. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This experience must include depot-level manufacturing and overhaul of ALRE systems, design for manufacturability, and project management.
- Depot-Level Manufacturing & ALRE Overhaul: Technical experience in depot manufacturing, repair, modification, and overhaul of complex military mechanical hardware, specifically advanced Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems, to resolve fleet readiness, sustainment, and lifecycle challenges.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Advanced Prototyping: Knowledge of advanced manufacturing methods, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and 2D/3D technical data standards; experience conducting trade-off analyses to identify high-risk processes and optimize designs for reliable production.
- Operational Project & Financial Management: Technical and financial management of manufacturing projects, including developing cost/labor quotes, utilizing job tracking and execution software, and coordinating schedules with program offices, shop leads, artisans, and production controllers to drive tasks to completion.
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership & Stakeholder Liaison: Leading diverse, cross-functional technical teams of engineers, technicians, and contractors; serving as a primary liaison between program stakeholders and manufacturing departments to communicate requirements, align organic capabilities with fleet needs, and track program priorities.
- Technical Leadership, Mentorship, & Representation: Serving as a mechanical expert and advisor to senior colleagues and program authorities; providing mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers and technicians; and representing the branch or organization at technical, planning, and design review meetings to influence and resolve controversial engineering issues.

Role Responsibilities

- Provide mentorship and technical direction to junior engineers and technicians.
- Represent the branch or organization at technical, planning, and design review meetings to influence and resolve controversial engineering issues.
- Develop cost/labor quotes and use job tracking and execution software to manage manufacturing projects.
