Job Description

The Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV is seeking an Environmental Services (EVS) Technician - Housekeeping Aid to join the Environmental Management Service Division.

This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environments and want to serve veterans. As an EVS Technician, you will perform a full range of housekeeping activities in patient and non-patient care areas.

Duties include floor maintenance, wall washing, cleaning doors and doorframes, baseboard corners, stairwells, and more. You will use both manual methods and industrial cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, spray-washers, UV disinfecting equipment, and vacuum cleaners.

This position works under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor or designee. You may be assigned to any tour and may work in various designated areas. Work is performed independently with general supervision or as part of a team.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a structured federal benefits package.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $18.23 - $21.27 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform janitorial and custodial services including textile distribution and inventory, sanitizing and disinfecting, waste removal, cleaning blinds, replacing curtains, washing windows and walls, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures.
  • Execute discharge cleaning, sweeping, scrubbing, extracting, polishing floors, and applying floor finishes.
  • Operate light and heavy-powered industrial cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, spray-washers, UV disinfecting equipment, and vacuum cleaners.
  • Perform floor maintenance, wall washing, and clean doors, doorframes, baseboard corners, edges, and stairwells.
  • Work in patient and non-patient care areas throughout the medical facility.
  • May be assigned to any tour and work in various designated areas.
  • Work independently with general supervision or as part of a team.
  • Responsible for the full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area.
