Job Description
Big Bend Community College (BBCC) invites submissions for Certified Flight Interns (CFI) in its Aviation Scheme in Moses Lake, Washington. CFIs perform with packed and part-time faculty to aid the academic requires of students in the BBCC Aviation plan.
Under the direction of the Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot, you’ll supply personal, commercial, and instrument flight and ground instruction using the college's flight and ground training syllabus. You’ll keep up student records under FAA.. TSA.. VA..
And college policies.. And back the Director with day-to-day operations including making copies.. Scanning documents.. Relaying messages.. Returning aircraft to service.. And auditing student training folders.
This role is considered part-time and temporary, subject to WAC 357-04-045, and may not function more than 1050 hours in any twelve consecutive month period.
This role is perfect for new graduates of BBCC's Part 141 Flight School who grip the needed certifications and are looking to gain teaching expertise as supporting the next generation of pilots.
Salary & Compensation
Estimated marketplace salary: $35,000 - $52,000 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for a Certified Flight Intern post at Big Bend Community College, you must encounter the following minimum needs located on the level you’re putting in for.
- Must have a commercial pilot certificate, airplane single-engine land (ASEL) with instrument rating
- airplane.
- Must have a present flight instructor certificate
- airplane, single-engine (CFI-ASE).
- Must have a existing Medical Certificate with no restrictions that would prohibit performance of flight duties and non-flight responsibilities as assigned by BBCC.
- Must have successfully wrapped up Big Bend Community College's Piece 141 Flight School, commercial ASEL such as instrument rating.
- For CFI Level I: COMM ASEL and CFI-ASE called for.
- For CFI Level II: COMM ASEL, CFI-ASE, and CFI-IA needed.
- For CFI Level III: COMM ASEL, CFI-ASE, CFI-IA, 4 quarters of CFI background, and at least 400 hours in 141 teaching called for.
- Individuals functioning in CFI positions may not be full-time students of BBCC and may not be enrolled in more than 5 credits per quarter at BBCC.
Role Responsibilities
Offer confidential, commercial, and instrument flight and ground instruction using the flight and ground training syllabus.
- Uphold student records under FAA, TSA, VA, and college policies.
- Assist Director with day-to-day operations covering making copies, scanning documents, relaying messages, returning aircraft to solution, and auditing student training folders.
- Gather with each student as published on schedule; form confident all flight lessons are finished according to the training course outlines specifications.
- Build certain all fitting endorsements are formed in the student's flight book and personal book.
- Send in requests for stage checks upon completion of each stage of flight training. Make sure all flight lessons and flight books are completed before request for stage review.
- Make confident all training activities, flights, and briefings are conducted during standard company hours.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

- CFI positions are temporary and part-time, subject to WAC 357-04-045, and may not exceed 1050 hours in any twelve consecutive month period.
- Performance of duties isn’t subject to tenure, and time served doesn’t accrue toward the full-time faculty salary schedule.
- There are three levels of CFI with varied settle rates: Level I ($19.50/hr), Level II ($20.45/hr), and Level III ($23.52/hr).
