Role Responsibilities

Receive work orders and assign, schedule, and supervise crews in installing, maintaining, repairing, relocating, or replacing water-lines, fire hydrants, valves, fittings, and other appurtenances.

  • Supervise work crews involved in installing water services of various sizes.
  • Instruct workers on repair methods and procedures and determine where excavations are to be made.
  • Lay out work and assign specific tasks to work crews.
  • Coordinate work of non-city and other city division crews working for Water Distribution.
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with Division standards.
  • Supervise crews engaged in thawing frozen services.
  • Determine proper valves to effect watermain shutdown and notify customers.
  • Answer a variety of inquiries and complaints from citizens and tactfully inform them of their responsibilities.

Must be able to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
