Job Description
The City of Spokane is hiring an Irrigation Specialist to join its team in Spokane, Washington. In this role, you will perform semi-skilled work installing, maintaining, and operating sprinkler systems across city gardens, parks, parkways, and islands.
You will operate manual, hydraulic, and electronic sprinkler systems, assist with new installations and remodeling of existing systems, and repair or replace sprinkler heads, controllers, timing devices, and related equipment.
This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in irrigation who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the upkeep of public green spaces.
You will also assist plumbers with more complex tasks, work with galvanized and plastic pipe, and program and maintain large fountains and chlorinators at city swimming pools. Off-season duties include assisting other tradesmen. The role requires operating automotive equipment and a two-way radio.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $49,047 - $77,005 per year.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and operate sprinkler systems in gardens, parks, parkways, and islands.
- Operate manual, hydraulic, and electronic sprinkler systems.
- Assist in the installation of new sprinkler systems.
- Perform work in conjunction with remodeling of existing systems.
- Repair and replace sprinkler heads, controllers, timing devices, and related equipment.
- Assist plumbers with more difficult work essential to sprinkler system installation and maintenance.
- Work with galvanized and plastic pipe.
- Attach vertical pipes and revolving sprinkler heads at designated points along pipeline.
- Observe sprinklers to ensure uniform water distribution and prevent waste.
- Inspect irrigated areas for adequate soaking.
