Lateral Corrections Deputy is listed by Island County. Island County Sheriff's Office is recruiting Lateral Corrections Deputies to operate in the 24/7 maximum-security jail based at the county seat in Coupeville, Washington.
Deputies are responsible for receiving, booking, keeping up custody of, escorting, transporting, caring for, and overseeing offenders. They also model pro-social behaviors and boost positive correctional practices. This is a full-time, sworn (commissioned) role within the Sheriff's Office.
This role needs operating rotating shifts, covering nights, weekends, and holidays. Deputies must uphold facility security, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies. The role presents a shot to cater to the community in a challenging and rewarding law enforcement environment.
You should be ready for a rigorous shortlisting procedure such as a Civil Offering Examination, background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical exams.
Salary & Compensation
Salary / Cover Package: $34 - $40 per hour.
Qualification
To qualify as a lateral applicant, you must have completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) Elementary Corrections Academy or a WSCJTC-recognized equivalency academy. Additional qualifications cover.
- Completion of WSCJTC Core Corrections Academy or recognized equivalency.
- Capacity to pass a Civil Solution Examination.
- U.S. Citizenship or permitted authorization to perform.
- Sound Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain one.
- No felony convictions.
- Solid moral character as determined by background investigation.
- Physical aptitude to perform vital job functions.
- Capacity to function rotating shifts covering nights, weekends, and holidays.
Role Responsibilities
Obtain, book, and workflow inmates into the detention facility.
- Maintain custody and security of offenders in a maximum-security jail.
- Escort and transport inmates within and outside the facility.
- Carry out cell reviews and security rounds.
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents.
- Arrange reports and maintain precise records.
- Model pro-social behaviors and advance positive correctional practices.
