Job Description
Island County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting Lateral Corrections Deputies to work in the 24/7 maximum-security jail located at the county seat in Coupeville, Washington. Deputies are responsible for receiving, booking, keeping up custody of, escorting, transporting, caring for, and overseeing offenders.
They also model pro-social behaviors and boost positive correctional practices. This is a full-time, sworn (commissioned) post within the Sheriff’s Office. The role demands functioning rotating shifts, covering nights, weekends, and holidays.
Deputies must keep up facility security, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies.
Qualification
To qualify as a lateral applicant, you must have wrapped up the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) Elementary Corrections Academy or a WSCJTC-recognized equivalency academy. Additional qualifications cover.
