Job Description
Island County Sheriff's Office is hiring a Lateral Entry Patrol Deputy for its Criminal Division. This full-time, commissioned role serves the communities of Whidbey and Camano Islands. Deputies perform law enforcement tasks such as patrol, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, and community engagement.
The role requires a Civil Service Examination as portion of the picking procedure. Successful applicants will join a crew dedicated to public safety and professional policing.
The role offers a 4-day function week, uniforms and responsibility gear provided, and LEOFF Trust Blueprint F Retirement. This is a continuous recruitment, meaning submissions are accepted until the role is filled.

Salary & Compensation
Estimated marketplace pay: $45,000 - $85,000 per year.
Qualification
You must have a current Peace Officer Certification in Washington or a state with reciprocity recognized by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center. Also, you must have wrapped up a Field Training Program as a full-time, paid, commissioned officer.

- U.S. Citizen fit to review and write English (RCW 41.14.100).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Washington State driver license or aptitude to obtain before employment.
- Existing First Responder, EMT, or Industrial First Aid certification with legitimate CPR endorsement (must obtain before finish of probation).
- Winning completion of a law enforcement training academy approved by Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
- Ability to encounter equivalency standards per WAC 139-05-21 if certified out-of-state.
- Must pass Civil Solution examination and pre-employment screenings covering background, polygraph, medical, and psychological evaluations.
Role Responsibilities
Patrol assigned fields to enforce laws and uphold public order.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for offering.
- Carry out preliminary and follow-up criminal investigations.
- Arrange thorough reports and testify in court as needed.
- Engage with community participants to create trust and address concerns.
- Operate patrol vehicles and equipment safely and effectively.
- Participate in ongoing training and expert development.
