The North Florida South Georgia Veterans Health System is hiring a Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. This GS-12 role is full-time and permanent, with a salary range of $96,343 to $125,249 per year.

Qualification
To qualify for this GS-12 Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist position, you must be a U.S. Citizen and meet the basic education and certification requirements. A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required, along with certification as an MLS (ASCP BOC or AMT), MT (ASCP BOR or AMT), or categorical/specialist certification by ASCP or AMT.

- Skill to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory instrumentation.
- Ability to develop procedures for new tests and modify existing methods.
- Ability to manage and coordinate daily work activities in a section.
- Ability to provide staff development and training.
Role Responsibilities
Facilitate team or unit processes by collaborating with team members to coordinate tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements with management.
- Oversee all aspects of operation in the area of specialty, including preparation and maintenance of records and reports, analysis of testing methodologies, training, instrumentation, and compliance.
- Act as a liaison to other departments of the medical center for the appropriate laboratory specialty.
- Spend at least 25% of time performing lead duties over staff one grade level below.
- Communicate the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values.
- Identify, distribute, and balance work; coach and facilitate problem-solving methods.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of work status; resolve simple, informal complaints.
- Report performance, progress, training needs, and behavioral problems of the team.
- Provide information on promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
- Develop, perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results in line with regulatory requirements.
