Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor, City of North Liberty Job

Salary: $15.32 per hour.

To qualify for the Lifeguard/Swim Instructor position, you must have existing lifeguard certification and swim instructor certification (or aptitude to obtain). Prior know-how in lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons is preferred.

• Present Lifeguard certification (e.g., American Red Cross or equivalent).
• Existing Swim Instructor certification (e.g., American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or equivalent).
• Capacity to obtain certifications before start date if not currently held.
• Expertise of pool rules, policies, and procedures.
• Aptitude to enforce rules firmly and fairly though explaining their purpose professionally.
• Robust swimming skills and comfort in deep water.
• Capacity to administer deep-water tests and monitor fragile swimmers.
• First Aid and CPR/AED for Skilled Rescuer certifications (or aptitude to obtain).
• Prior expertise in lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years of age (or as called for by state law).

Safeguard all guests from accidents, injury, or drowning through alertness and enforcement of pool rules.

• Be prepared to respond to troubled patrons, drowning victims, or guests in the pool and surrounding sphere.
• Enforce pool policies and procedures in a steady, reasonable, and courteous manner.
• Administer deep-water tests to all swimmers and make sure feeble swimmers stick around in shallow water areas.
• Train swimming lessons to people and compact groups of all ages and aptitudes.
• Provide instruction on water safety, stroke tactic, and swimming abilities.
• Perform light facility maintenance such as cleaning pool decks, checking equipment, and keeping up a secure environment.
• Represent the City of North Liberty Recreation Department professionally at all times.
• Go to needed training and team meetings.
• Finish incident reports and other documentation as needed.

• Must be fit to operate a versatile schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
