Job Description
The U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms is hiring a Mail Specialist/Truck Driver #121 to run a motorized truck for picking up and handing over mail and packages from the mail screening facility to the Senate mailroom and other service locations.
This role is located in Washington, DC, and is necessary to the uninterrupted operations of the Senate. The role is full-time, permanent, and not telework eligible. You’ll inspect the operate vehicle, report maintenance matters, and make sure mail and packages are properly screened and labeled before loading.
You may also work specialized mail processing equipment, employ a mobile computer for package tracking, and transport team to pulmonary appointments. This role calls for availability during lapses in appropriations, inclement weather, holidays, and late-night or weekend sessions, as it straight supports vital Senate offerings.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $64,000 - $110,790 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for the Mail Specialist/Truck Driver #121 post.. You must have a high school diploma or GED.. One to three years of expertise driving delivery trucks.. And a sound driver's license with a wipe down driving record within SAA hiring guidelines. U.S. Citizenship is called for.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate a motorized truck to select up and hand over mail and packages from the mail screening facility to the Senate mailroom and other offering locations.
- Inspect perform vehicle, identify and report wear and tear, and report maintenance worries.
- Confirm, through management, that mail and packages have been properly screened and labeled before loading the vehicle for delivery.
- On occasion, run specialized mail and package processing equipment and machinery employed to aid detect potentially hazardous materials or substances.
- Apply mobile computer for package delivery accountability.
- Transport team to pulmonary appointments and training.
- Master various delivery routes; lift and bear up to 100 lbs.; sit and walk for extended periods.
- Participate in Continuity of Operations (COOP) exercises.
- Provide items throughout the Senate campus, covering House buildings, Senate Child Care, GPO, PSQ, etc.
- Function in a controlled environment as wearing PPE for extended periods; undergo X-ray training (threat recognition).
