MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER - TITLE 32

To qualify for the WG-6912-07 Materials Examiner and Identifier position, you must be a current on-board technician in the Georgia Army National Guard and meet the specialized experience requirements. • Military Grades: E5-E7.
• Compatible Military Assignments: ECMF 91; EMOS 13B/Z, 25B, 36B, 51C, 88M/N, 89A/B, 92A/F/Y.
• General Experience: Experience or training demonstrating the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, follow procedures, sort materials by type, and skill in using hand tools.

Inspect, receive, sort, count, and classify hazardous materials such as explosives, toxic chemicals, flammables, gas cylinders, radioactive material, and hazardous waste.

• Perform pre-receipt examination of property on site at the generation point; ensure turn-in and shipping are in order, containers meet standards, and are properly placarded and marked.
• Schedule receipt of property and ensure identification of all contaminants.
• Reject property not meeting turn-in requirements and assist the turn-in activity to correct rejections.
• Determine the nature and degree of the particular hazard involved.
• Determine if containers are DOT-approved, safe to handle, nonleaking, capable of withstanding routine handling, and safe for required periods of storage.
• Ensure storage compatibility is adhered to.
• Determine the need for special handling/special storage of certain property (e.g., friable asbestos, PCBs, batteries, pesticides).
• Perform complex searches of shipping and technical documents.
• Operate forklifts and motor vehicles as required.

National Guard membership is required; must be a current on-board technician in the Georgia Army National Guard.

• Acceptance of this excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
