Job Description

The Commander, Navy Installations Command is hiring a full-time MWR Food Service Worker at NSA Maine in Kittery, ME. In this role, you will set up and replenish cafeteria lines, steam tables, and food service counters with hot and cold food.

You will serve food cafeteria-style, prepare self-service stations, and set up dining room tables. Duties also include preparing fruits and vegetables, operating kitchen equipment like potato peelers and mixers, unloading supplies, washing dishes, and performing heavy cleaning tasks such as cleaning walls, windows, and exhaust hoods.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on food service work in a structured environment and can handle multiple tasks during busy meal periods.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $19.51 per hour.

Qualification

To qualify for the NA-4 grade, your resume must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required for this position.

You must have skill in performing tasks involving several steps or using judgment in sequencing tasks, serving uniform portions, concentrating in a busy environment, performing simple arithmetic, operating a cash register, and applying basic sanitation standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and replenish cafeteria line, steam table, and food service counters with hot and cold food.
  • Serve food cafeteria style; prepare self-service stations with condiments, silverware, and glassware.
  • Set up dining room tables for service.
  • Prepare fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving by cleaning, peeling, cutting, scraping, chopping, and dicing.
  • Operate powered and mechanical kitchen equipment safely, including potato peelers, slicers, mixers, grinders, scales, and measuring devices.
  • Unload supply trucks and place supplies in proper storage areas; bring supplies to work areas as required.
  • Wash dishes, pots, and pans manually or by mechanical dishwasher.
  • Set up, operate, disassemble, clean, and reassemble dishwashing machine after each use.
  • Remove used utensils and dishes from dining areas to buff floors.
  • Clean walls and windows in kitchen, dining area, storage areas, offices, and hallways.
