Job Description
The Roseburg VA Health Care System is hiring a Registered Nurse Manager (Primary Care) for the North Bend, Oregon clinic. The Nurse Manager functions as a clinical expert and is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
As the designated first-line supervisory authority, you will oversee the operation of your assigned unit and provide coverage for other Nurse Managers as needed. This role is ideal for an experienced RN leader who wants to shape primary care delivery for veterans.
You will direct staff orientation, training, and development, and evaluate individual staff performance. You will also function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to the team.
You will enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based programs and processes.
You will also engage in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth, and adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, supports accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $118,702 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for this Nurse Manager position, you must meet the basic requirements for VA nursing roles: proficiency in English, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and a current, active, unrestricted RN license. Grade determinations (Nurse II or III) depend on education and experience.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in basic written and spoken English (38 U.S.C. 7403(f)).
- Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency (ACEN or CCNE).
- Master's level bridge program students may be appointed temporarily upon state licensure, then converted to permanent after program completion.
- Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration. Foreign education beyond associate degree requires equivalency validation (e.g., ICD).
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Grade Determination - Nurse II: BSN with 2 years of professional nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I Level 3; OR MSN with 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I Level 3; OR Master's in a related field with BSN and 1 year specialized experience; OR Doctoral degree in Nursing with no experience; OR Doctoral degree in related field with BSN and no experience.
- Grade Determination - Nurse III: MSN and 2 years of specialized nursing experience, one year equivalent to Nurse II; OR Master's in related field with BSN and 2 years specialized experience; OR Doctoral degree in Nursing with 1 year specialized experience equivalent to Nurse II; OR Doctoral degree in related field with BSN and 1 year specialized experience.
- Preferred Experience: Experience leading clinical operations in an ambulatory care setting, experience with patients with chronic and complex medical conditions, geriatric, and medically underserved individuals. One year of leadership experience is preferred.
- Grandfathering Provision: Current VHA employees in the 0610 series performing duties as described in the qualification standard on 1/29/2024 are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the grade held.

- Assume responsibility and accountability for the operation of assigned units.
