To qualify for this Physician (Cardiologist) Non-Invasive role at grade VM 15, you must gather core needs including U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens can’t be recruited).. • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year the course of study was completed.
• Current, complete and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification eligibility.
• Approved residencies contain those accredited by ACGME or AOA, or one year of post-medical school training followed by two years of independent practice in the U.S., or non-U.S. Residency followed by three years of verified independent practice in the U.S.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Candidates pending completion of training or license conditions may be referred and tentatively selected but can’t be hired until all requirements are met.
• Currently employed VA physicians who met previous qualification standards at initial appointment are deemed to have met basic needs.

Give consultative solutions for new and established cardiology referrals in an outpatient clinic setting.

• Oversee many cardiovascular disease procedures covering heart failure, chest pain, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and cardiomyopathy.
• Interpret echocardiograms performed at both the Allentown Outpatient Clinic and Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
• Interpret EKGs, ambulatory cardiac monitors, and pressure tests (nuclear portion interpreted by Nuclear Medicine).
• Register American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association and VA guidelines to the management of cardiovascular diseases.
• Participate in the Education Debt Reduction Plan (EDRP) if eligible, with up to $200,000 in loan repayment.
• May be eligible for a sign-on bonus as a percentage of annual pay per year for up to four years of offering.
• Pay may exceed the maximum shown if annual performance metrics are met.
