The VA Northern California Healthcare System is hiring a Physician for the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) in Primary Care at the Fairfield, CA location. This full-time, permanent position involves providing complete primary care services to Veterans in an outpatient setting.
The role is ideal for board-certified or board-eligible internists or family medicine physicians who want to serve those who served.
The position offers a competitive salary of $230,000 per year, eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) with up to $200,000 in student loan repayment, and a complete federal benefits package.
Qualification
To qualify, you must be a U.S. Citizen (non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited).. Hold a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school.. Possess a current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine.. And have completed residency training approved by the ACGME or AOA. Board certification or board eligibility in internal medicine or family medicine is required.

- Alternative: one year of ACGME/AOA-approved internship plus two years of independent practice with a full license in the U.S.

- Board certified or board eligible in internal medicine or family medicine (additional requirement).
- Preferred: experience in primary care, internal medicine, or family medicine.
- Preferred: current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Role Responsibilities
Provide complete primary care services to an assigned panel of Veterans in a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions, including preventive care and health maintenance.
- Coordinate care with specialists, ancillary services, and community providers as needed.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.
- Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (CPRS).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance measures to enhance patient outcomes.
- Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and other trainees as assigned.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and care coordinators.
- Maintain board certification/eligibility and fulfill continuing medical education requirements.
- Adhere to VA policies, including infection control, safety, and patient privacy (HIPAA).

Must pass pre-employment physical examination and drug screening (including random testing after appointment).

- Must participate in seasonal influenza vaccination program (or obtain an exemption).

Benefits
Competitive salary: $230,000 per year.
