Job Description
The City of Bell Gardens Recreation & Community Offerings Department is hiring a Recreation Leader II - Lifeguard to make sure pool safety and lead swim programs. This part-time, temporary role involves monitoring swimmers, enforcing rules, performing rescues, administering first aid, and maintaining pool cleanliness.
You’ll also organize and instruct swim classes, run water chemical tests, and maintain records. The department focuses on creating community through people, parks, and programs, providing a secure and fun environment for residents. This role suits motivated people who enjoy public service and operating with children.
Hours may contain ahead of time mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary & Compensation
Pay / Settle Package: $18 per hour.
Qualification
You must be at least 16 years longstanding and in the 11th grade or higher. One or more seasons of lifeguard or swim instructor background is desirable, along with expertise leading children in set settings.
- Must be at least 16 years of age at time of submission and in the eleventh grade or higher.
- Students under 18 who haven’t wrapped up high school must submit a legitimate Perform Permit.
- One or more seasons of lifeguard or swim instructor know-how is desirable.
- Background functioning with children of all ages in a group setting is preferred.
- Direct expertise in leadership, volunteer function, or recreation activities is very desirable.
- Must have existing Red Cross First Aid, Red Cross or AHA CPR, and Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificates at time of take on.
- Expertise of lifesaving techniques, first aid, and pool maintenance called for.
- Aptitude to speak Spanish is extremely desirable.
Role Responsibilities
- Monitor swimming and pool activities to confirm safety of patrons.
- Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer CPR and first aid.
- Enforce pool safety rules, regulations, and facility policies.
- Inspect swimming pool for cleanliness and perform routine maintenance.
- Conduct chemical tests of water and retain records of test results and chemicals employed.
- Organize and instruct swim classes for various age groups.
- Hold everyday log of rescues and emergencies; get ready written reports.
- Assist cashier and perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Additional Information
