Reserve Officers perform law enforcement tasks such as patrol, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, investigation, and public solution calls.

Level I officers may function alone and perform packed police duties; Level II officers work under immediate supervision; Level III officers deal with narrow support responsibilities.

Qualification

Reserve Police Officer you must have a legitimate California Driver License and a P.O.S.T. Certificate at the level required for the role. Education equivalent to twelfth grade completion is required. No prior background is required, but training modules must be finished as specified.

Role Responsibilities

Patrol assigned spheres to preserve law and order, prevent crime, and enforce traffic laws.nRespond to calls for protection of life and property, covering crimes in progress, accidents, and disturbances.nConduct investigations: round up evidence, interview victims and witnesses, interrogate suspects.nSearch suspects, vehicles, and buildings for evidence or contraband.nServe search and arrest warrants. Make arrests under federal, state, and area laws.nPerform booking procedures and transport prisoners to county jail.nPrepare reports on activities, arrests, and incidents; testify in court.nDirect traffic and control crowds during distinct events or emergencies.
