Job Description

The Department of the Navy is hiring a Rigger (WG-10) for its San Diego, CA location at Aspect Loma Intricate.

In this role, you’ll fabricate, install, and repair standing and running rigging, covering wire cable and fiber rope articles such as slings, towing bridles, nets, and rope ladders. You’ll frank the operation of cranes and similar equipment, and manual laborers and helpers in protected rigging practices.

You’ll help with ship docking operations by laying out and handling lines, snubbing lines on cleats or bollards, and hauling lines with capstans.

You’ll install beam clamps, gin poles, gallows frames, and other supporting layouts, and use jacks, pulley blocks, chain falls, and rollers to relocate and role heavy items. You’ll estimate scale, weight, and equipment capacity, and strategy for clearance and safety aspects.

This role is full-time with a settle grade of WG-10, offering a pay range of $27.38 to $45.79 per hour. The role may require uncommon tours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Salary & Compensation

Pay / Cover Package: $27 - $46 per hour.

• Aptitude to do the work without more than typical supervision (screen-out element).

• Expertise in fabricating, installing, and repairing rigging (wire cable, fiber rope, slings, towing bridles, nets, rope ladders).

• Expertise of crane operations and directing crane movements.

• Skill in estimating scale, weight, and equipment capacity for secure rigging.

• Know-how with beam clamps, gin poles, gallows frames, jacks, pulley blocks, chain falls, and rollers.

• Ability to walkthrough and straight apprentices and helpers in protected rigging practices.

• Familiarity with ship docking operations and line handling.

• Understanding of safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment.
