Job Description
The Department of the Navy is seeking a Rigging Worker (WG 8) to join its team in San Diego, California. This role is critical to shipyard operations, supporting dry docking and launching of vessels, moving hefty machinery, and ensuring protected rigging practices.
As a Rigging Worker, you’ll perform alongside Journeymen Riggers and may lead lesser-skilled workers in installing, removing, and repositioning structural participants of ships, heavy equipment, and other loads.
You’ll direct crane operations using normal signals, decide correct gear placement to safe loads, and perform spot checks to verify compliance with established rigging approaches and safety protocols.
This role calls for the use of personal protective equipment and may involve exposure to hazardous materials, high noise levels, and unusual task hours covering nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary & Compensation
Estimated marketplace pay: $45,000 - $85,000 per year.

To qualify for the Rigging Worker post (WG 8), you must display the capacity to perform the work without more than standard supervision. This is the screen-out element. Your background and training will be evaluated located on caliber, not necessarily length of time.
