Job Description

The Supervisory Social Worker serves as the supervisor for the Homeless Program for Southern Colorado, based at the PFC Floyd Lindstrom VA Clinic in Colorado Springs. This role is part of the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) and reports to the Section Chief of Homeless Programs.

The incumbent oversees the HUD-VASH program, the Coordinated Employment Specialist, and program outreach efforts. Duties include planning.. Establishing.. And implementing policies and procedures; tracking compliance with VHA directives.. Joint Commission standards.. State licensure..

And VA-OIG expectations; conducting program reviews and appraisals; developing individual.. Group.. And program goals; managing fund control points; and overseeing data use for daily operations and evaluations.

The supervisor also assists in identifying qualified MSW candidates, rating performance appraisals, and providing ongoing supervision to staff in HCHV and HUD-VASH programs.

This position is ideal for experienced social workers with a master's degree from a CSWE-accredited program, current state licensure at the advanced practice level, and supervisory experience in a clinical setting.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $117,393 - $152,613 per year.

Qualification

To qualify for this GS-13 Supervisory Social Worker position, you must meet education, licensure, and experience requirements. A master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school is required, along with state licensure to independently practice at the master's degree level.

One year of experience equivalent to GS-12 is also required.

  • Master's degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Schools in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until fully accredited.
  • A doctoral degree in social work cannot substitute for the master's degree.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license or certification by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, demonstrating advanced practice skills in a specialty area or administration with progressively more professional competency and judgment.
  • Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skill in a range of supervisory duties including clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments, and quality improvement.
  • Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.
  • Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues.
  • Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity.
  • Ability to provide staff training and development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Homeless Program for Southern Colorado, including HUD-VASH, Coordinated Employment Specialist, and outreach.
  • Assist in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Track and adhere to VHA directives, Joint Commission standards, state licensure, and VA-OIG expectations.
  • Conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards.
  • Develop individual, group, and program goals and objectives.
  • Manage fund control points assigned to the program.
  • Oversee data related to day-to-day functioning and program evaluations.
  • Plan, organize, and direct administrative operations and patient/personnel activities.
  • Identify qualified MSW candidates for vacant positions, rate performance appraisals, and provide ongoing supervision to staff in HCHV and HUD-VASH programs.
  • Exercise supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment, performance management, and staff development.
