The Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) is hiring a Supervisory Technician to lead the Availability Planning Division within the Modernization & Installation Department.

In this role, you will manage, plan, and provide technical direction for complex Department of the Navy projects supporting multiple Surface Ship programs.

You will serve as the first-level supervisor, maintaining continuous dialogue with mid- and senior-level leaders, including Flag and Captain levels.

Qualification

To qualify.. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include providing leadership and guidance in technical and engineering services for complex projects and utilizing financial and administrative support tools for combat and weapon systems programs.

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NT-04 (GS-11/12) in federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience.
  • Experience providing leadership and guidance in technical and engineering services for management, planning, and technical direction of complex projects.
  • Experience utilizing financial and administrative support tools and processes in support of combat and weapon systems and equipment programs.
  • Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs, is qualifying if it demonstrates the required competencies.

Role Responsibilities

Serve as the first-level supervisor within NSWC Port Hueneme Division's Availability Planning Division.

  • Assume a pivotal role in management, planning, and technical direction of complex Department of the Navy projects supporting multiple Surface Ship programs.
  • Maintain continuous formal and informal dialogue with mid- and senior-level leaders, including Flag and Captain levels.
  • Convey technical, programmatic, financial, and administrative efforts to ensure NSWC PHD leadership is apprised of project statuses, mission risks, and resource requirements.
  • Lead Command initiatives related to strategic studies and long-range planning.
  • Ensure all branch tasks and tactical executions align with established Command and Department Strategic Objectives, missions, and core values.
Conditions & Requirements

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA); certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
