Job Description
The IL 404 Army National Guard in Normal, Illinois, is hiring a Training Technician (Title 32) to serve as the primary assistant to the senior training technician within the operations and training area.
Under the direction of the training officer, you will help accomplish work in operations and training, including forecasting and monitoring training ammunition usage, reviewing individual training requirements, coordinating school training quotas, and managing training reservation systems.
This role is ideal for enlisted service members (NTE E9) who have experience with Army education and training programs and want to apply their skills in a federal technician position.

- GS-07 Level: Must possess at least 1 year at the lower-level GS-06, including knowledge of Army education and training programs, principles and procedures.
- Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures; learning processes; curriculum development; training evaluations; education and training systems and products.
- Effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application; training reporting; program and curriculum validation; implementation procedures.
- Experience scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; military personnel classification system and policies.
- Experience with communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts.
- Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events.
- GS-06 Level: Must possess knowledge, experience, or training equivalent to at least 1 year at the lower-level GS-06, with the same specialized experience areas as GS-07.
- No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this occupational series and grade.
Role Responsibilities
Assist in forecasting, allocating, and monitoring the usage of training ammunition for the command.
- Make recommendations for the reallocation and/or re-forecasting of ammunition to support training events.
- Review, validate, monitor and make recommendations concerning the forecasting of individual training requirements for subordinate elements.
- Identify training opportunities and coordinate with higher headquarters to obtain school training quotas (Service, NCO, Special, etc.) to meet command requirements.
- Coordinate through higher headquarters the request for special internal training course establishment and their availability through the training reservation automation system.
- Ensure ammunition requests submitted by subordinate units are supported by training plans.
- Function as the primary assistant to the senior training technician/NCO within the operations and training area.
- Assist in the accomplishment of work performed in the areas of operations and training under the direction of the training officer.
Conditions & Requirements
Membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed (enlisted, NTE E9) is required prior to effective date of placement.
