Job Description
The Department of the Navy is hiring a Welder Leader (WL 11) to assist at the Aspect Loma Complicated in San Diego, California.
In this role, you’ll lead a staff of welders, pass on instructions from supervisors, inspect function sites, and report progress.
You’ll operate in a shipyard environment, potentially at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, or Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
This role is full-time and calls for a leader who can ensure grade and safety in welding operations. The role suits experienced welders ready to obtain on supervisory tasks.
You’ll be section of a group maintaining and repairing Navy vessels, contributing to national defense. The role gives structured federal cover and upsides.
Salary & Compensation
Estimated marketplace salary: $95,000 - $175,000 per year.
Qualification
This Welder Leader post at grade WL 11 needs demonstrated ability to lead or manage, which is the screen-out element. Your qualifications are evaluated on caliber of know-how, not just length. You must demonstrate through background and training that you possess the necessary expertise and expertise.
- Ability to lead or oversee (screen-out element; minimum 2 points needed).
- Insight of welding techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Skill in interpreting blueprints, sketches, and welding symbols.
- Ability to inspect perform for standard and compliance with specifications.
- Expertise in training or instructing lower-grade workers.
- Physical aptitude to wear protective gear and function in hazardous environments.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test (such as marijuana).
- Must obtain and keep up a security clearance.
Role Responsibilities
Pass on instructions from welding supervisor to work set participants.
- Review and report work progress, covering written documentation and shift assist requests.
- Perform work site inspections to confirm safety and grade.
- Lead and manage a crew of welders in shipyard maintenance and repair duties.
- Make sure compliance with safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment.
- Arrange with other trades and departments to gather mission deadlines.
- May want to operate uncommon tours, such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
