About Office of Field Operations

The United States Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency with headquarters in Washington, D.C., and more than 150 offices throughout the United States and abroad. Its integrated mission is to protect the nation's leaders, key locations, and events of national significance, as well as safeguard the integrity of U.S. currency and investigate financial crimes, including cyber-enabled offenses. The agency employs over 8,000 personnel, including Special Agents, Uniformed Division Officers, Technical Law Enforcement Officers, and administrative, professional, and technical staff. Established in 1865 to combat rampant counterfeiting, the Secret Service later assumed the full-time protection of the President after the assassination of President McKinley in 1901.

The Office of Field Operations is led by Assistant Director Brent Daniels and oversees the agency's field offices across the United States and abroad. These field offices conduct investigations into financial crimes, cybercrime, and counterfeiting, and support protective operations. Many field offices host Cyber Fraud Task Forces (CFTFs) that partner with private industry, state and local law enforcement, and federal prosecutors to combat complex cyber-enabled financial crimes.
