Job Description

The Oregon Air National Guard 142nd Wing in Portland, OR, is hiring an Aircraft Mechanic (WG-8852-10) to perform inspections, repairs, modifications, and servicing of aircraft systems and components. This role is based within the aircraft maintenance institution and backs both Inspection and Repair & Reclamation shops.

You’ll troubleshoot mechanical, pneudraulic, and electrical systems on fixed and rotary wing aircraft, carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and guarantee airworthiness. This role includes launching and recovering aircraft, performing end-of-runway inspections, and debriefing aircrew.

You may also instruct drill status guard members, uphold support equipment, and participate in readiness evaluations. This is a full-time federal post with the Oregon Air National Guard, requiring membership in the Oregon ANG.

Salary & Compensation

Pay / Pay Package: $37 - $44 per hour.

Qualification

To qualify for the WG-10 level.. You must have at least 18 months of background or training installing.. Adjusting.. Aligning.. Troubleshooting.. And functionally testing primary and slight mechanical and pneudraulic systems on aircraft during overhaul or modification.

You must also have know-how coordinating function of other mechanics and scheduling maintenance.

  • Spheres of Consideration: Field 1 - Existing permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG. Domain 2 - Present permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG. Sphere 3 - Existing offering participants in the Oregon ANG. Field 4 - People in the active task US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard. Domain 5 - US Citizens eligible to encounter the military conditions for membership in the Oregon ANG.
  • General expertise: competence to take out and substitute aircraft pieces, accessories, and components, and build adjustments according to specifications. Must be proficient in hand instruments and test equipment.
  • Specialized experience (WG-10): 18 months experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing significant and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on aircraft during overhaul or modification.
  • Must have capacity to instruct lower graded mechanics and military personnel in disassembly and reassembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls.
  • Military condition: Unseal to Enlisted members only, rank A1C/E-3 to SSgt/E-5. Compatible AFSC: 2A3X3. Cross-training opportunity on offer if you gather specialized background.
  • Must attend technical school for award of AFSC within 12 months of hire if you don’t possess the compatible AFSC.
  • Must be a US citizen. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Solution.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be capable to obtain/maintain the necessary security clearance.
  • This role is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, functional verifies, and preventive maintenance on aircraft such as periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and unique inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft using gauges, meters, and test equipment.
  • Remove and swap aircraft components such as control surfaces, engines, ongoing speed drives, landing gear mechanisms, wheels, brakes, and tires.
  • Offering oil, fluid, fuel, hydraulic, and oxygen systems; adjust and keep up installed equipment like tow targets and hydraulic reels.
  • Tow, taxi, park, and moor assigned and transient aircraft; launch and recover aircraft including alert status; perform end-of-runway inspections.
  • Perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned assist equipment, covering inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.
  • Offer records for aircraft maintenance historical records, wrap up maintenance figures collection, and assist supply function in spotting sections.
  • Instruct, direct, and assign maintenance repair assignments to drill status guard participants; make sure compliance with technical publications and safety regulations.
