The Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Wing in Portland is hiring an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic to work in the Egress Shop of the Aerospace Systems Section. This WG-8/10 post centers on keeping up aircraft egress systems, covering ejection seats, escape hatches, and explosive components.
You’ll troubleshoot, install, repair, and test components such as regulators, actuators, and rocket packs, making sure safety and serviceability. This role also involves inspecting pressurization systems, performing modifications per technical orders, and supporting readiness evaluations.

Salary & Compensation
Estimated market pay: $32,000 - $48,000 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for WG-8, you require at least 12 months of know-how planning and repairing ordnance systems. For WG-10, 18 months is required. Experience must involve diagnosing malfunctions, using test equipment, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Spheres of consideration: Present Oregon ANG T32/T5 technicians, offering participants, active duty USAF/AF Reserve/ANG, and US citizens eligible for Oregon ANG membership.
- General expertise: Insight of aircraft ordnance systems, aptitude to use test equipment for electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic inspects.
- Specialized background: Planning repair sequences, modifying and installing ordnance systems, troubleshooting complex malfunctions.
- Must keep or be capable to obtain AFSC 2A6X3 with minimum 3-skill level.
- Military grade: AB/E-1 to SSgt/E-5.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be fit to obtain security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship and Selective Service registration (if suitable) called for.
- No domestic violence conviction under Lautenberg Amendment.
Role Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, install, strip, repair, and modify aircraft egress systems such as ejection seats, canopy jettison components, and escape hatches.
- Inspect ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkages for damage; perform corrective maintenance.
- Check pressurization system gauges, bottles, and regulators for serviceability.
- Install and uphold Jet Assistance Grab Off (JATO) systems when relevant.
- Perform Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) related to egress systems.
- Arrange for and participate in readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG, and UE inspections.
- May demand to perform additional tasks like firefighting, crash/rescue, security guard, or snow removal.
