Job Description
The City of San Diego is hiring an Aquatics Technician II to join its team responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and complex repair of aquatic equipment and facilities across the city.
This includes motors, pumps, circulation systems, filtration, plumbing, and chemical control systems at various citywide fountains, water features, and swimming pools.
The role also involves designing, renovating, and constructing aquatic facility systems, testing and maintaining water quality per health codes, keeping logs and records, and managing inventory.
Qualification
To qualify for Aquatics Technician II, candidates must have experience in the maintenance and repair of aquatic equipment and facilities, including pumps, motors, filtration systems, and chemical feed systems. The City of San Diego may consider education and training as a substitute for some experience.

Role Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, and perform complex repairs of aquatic equipment and facilities including motors and pumps.
- Design, renovate, and construct aquatic facility systems including circulation, filtration, and plumbing systems.
- Repair, inspect, and test chemical control and feed systems.
- Install and maintain bulk chemical storage tanks.
- Use power tools for fabrication of custom fittings.
- Test and maintain water quality as required by health codes and safety standards.
- Keep logs, maintain records, and generate reports.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and determine maintenance schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Conditions & Requirements
Must be able to work full-time schedule as determined by the City.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must have a valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
- Must comply with all safety regulations and use personal protective equipment.
