Job Description

The City of San Diego is hiring an Aquatics Technician II to join its group responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and complicated repair of aquatic equipment and facilities across the metro.

This includes motors, pumps, circulation systems, filtration, plumbing, and chemical control systems at various citywide fountains, water functions, and swimming pools.

This role also involves designing, renovating, and constructing aquatic facility systems, testing and keeping up water quality per health codes, keeping logs and records, and managing inventory.

This role is best-suited for experienced technicians who enjoy hands-on operate in a municipal setting and hope to contribute to the safety and functionality of public aquatic amenities.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $66,165 - $78,790 per year.

Qualification

To qualify for Aquatics Technician IIyou must have know-how in the maintenance and repair of aquatic equipment and facilities, covering pumps, motors, filtration systems, and chemical feed systems. The City of San Diego may weigh education and training as a substitute for some expertise.

• Background in inspecting, keeping up, and repairing aquatic equipment such as pumps, motors, and filtration systems.
• Understanding of water grade testing and chemical control systems.
• Aptitude to use power instruments for fabrication of custom fittings.
• Know-how with plumbing and circulation systems for pools and water capabilities.
• Sound driver's license may be required.
• Capacity to hold correct logs, records, and reports.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect, keep up, and perform complex repairs of aquatic equipment and facilities such as motors and pumps.
• Design, renovate, and construct aquatic facility systems covering circulation, filtration, and plumbing systems.
• Repair, inspect, and test chemical control and feed systems.
• Install and maintain bulk chemical storage tanks.
• Use power resources for fabrication of custom fittings.
• Test and uphold water caliber as called for by health codes and safety standards.
• Maintain logs, keep up records, and generate reports.
• Uphold inventory of equipment and determine maintenance schedules.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Conditions & Requirements

• Must be capable to function full-time schedule as determined by the Town.
• May demand to perform weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Must pass a background review and drug screening.
• Must have a legitimate California driver's license or aptitude to obtain one.
• Must be fit to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical jobs.
• Must comply with all safety regulations and employ personal protective equipment.
