Job Description
The City of El Paso is hiring a Building Combination Inspector Supervisor to supervise and perform field inspections of new and present residential and commercial buildings. You’ll ensure setups gather structural, electrical, mechanical, gas, and plumbing codes.
This role is best-suited for experienced inspectors with supervisory skills who want to perform in a dynamic municipal environment. You’ll lead a team of inspectors, organize inspection schedules, and enforce code compliance across the metro.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $53,028 - $81,558 per year.
Qualification
To qualify, you need a high school diploma or GED plus two years of residential or commercial inspection experience in electrical, structural, plumbing, and mechanical fields, or two years of housing inspection know-how.
Required certifications contain ICC Residential Combination Inspector or ICC Commercial Building Inspector plus two other ICC Commercial certifications at submission.
- High School diploma or GED, or higher.
- Two (2) years residential or commercial inspection expertise (electrical, structural, plumbing and mechanical) OR two (2) years of housing inspection experience.
- Sound Texas Class 'C' Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
- International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Residential Combination Inspector OR ICC certification as a Commercial Building Inspector and two (2) other ICC Commercial certifications at time of application.
- ICC certification as a Residential or Commercial Building Inspector (whichever puts in) within six (6) months of appointment.
- Plumbing Inspector License from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners required within one (1) year of appointment.
- Submission of submission to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners needed within six (6) months of appointment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage, arrange, and carry out field inspections of new and existing residential and commercial buildings.
- Confirm conformance with relevant structural, electrical, mechanical, gas, and plumbing codes.
- Oversee inspections of layouts to pinpoint violations and guarantee compliance.
- Prepare inspection reports and keep up records.
- Offer guidance and training to inspection workforce.
- Respond to complaints and inquiries about building codes.
- Enforce code needs and concern notices of violation.
