Job Description
The City of Spokane is seeking a Certified Boiler Inspector to perform skilled technical inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, attachments, accessories, and related equipment to ensure compliance with building and zoning codes. This role is critical for public safety and regulatory adherence in the Spokane area.
As a Certified Boiler Inspector, you will investigate boiler accidents to determine causes, order repairs, and make recommendations to prevent future incidents. You will inspect existing boilers and pressure vessels, determine necessary repairs, review design and materials, and approve or disapprove repairs.
Additionally, you will review blueprints and construction plans for new installations to ensure code compliance and inspect completed work. You will advise builders, contractors, owners, and trade workers on technical information, regulations, and methods for constructing, installing, maintaining, and repairing boilers.
Conducting cold stop investigations of businesses to verify new pressure vessels are added to the inspection schedule is also part of the role. You will prepare, update, and distribute inspection schedules to authorized inspection agencies, enter inspection results into the City database, and maintain records and reports.

Salary & Compensation
Salary: $66,357 - $109,265 per year.
Qualification

- Certification as a Boiler Inspector (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
- Knowledge of boiler and pressure vessel codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience in inspecting boilers, pressure vessels, and related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and technical documents.
- Strong communication skills to advise builders, contractors, and the public.
- Proficiency in using database systems for recordkeeping and reporting.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to inspection sites within the city.

- Prepare, update, and distribute inspection schedules to authorized inspection agencies.
- Enter inspection results from own inspections and authorized inspection agencies into City database.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and correspondence as required.
