Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is hiring a Combined Trades Supervisor II for the Rigging and Operations Division (Code 740) in Kittery, Maine.

In this role, you will plan and direct the work of subordinate personnel, manage resources, and oversee rigging, rigger diver, and crane operations.

You will update the Daily Lift Plan, develop work standards with engineering staff, and monitor work progress to control costs and prevent issues.

Qualification

This WS-14 position requires demonstrated ability to lead or supervise in a trade setting. There is no specific length of experience required, but you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality of knowledge and skill needed.   • Ability to lead or supervise, including developing goals for rigging, rigger diver, and crane operations.
  • Experience determining resource requirements, materials, and skill types for long-range work schedules.
  • Skill in assigning work, explaining requirements, setting deadlines, and establishing work sequences.
  • Ability to recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and their consistent application.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
  • Technical practices in theoretical, precise, or artistic trades.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Role Responsibilities

Plan on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources.

  • Update and maintain the Daily Lift Plan with current accurate information for assigned projects.
  • Participate with management and engineering personnel to develop qualitative and quantitative work standards.
  • Review and analyze work accomplishments, cost, and utilization of subordinates to evaluate progress and control costs.
  • Recommend corrective action to superiors to anticipate and avoid problems.
