The State of Mississippi is seeking a Correctional Officer I to join its corrections staff in Wilkinson County. Perform in this role involves keeping up safety and security within a correctional facility, supervising inmates, and enforcing rules and regulations.

Qualification
To qualify for the Correctional Officer I post, you must meet specific eligibility needs. You must be at least 21 years longstanding, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a legitimate driver's license.
No prior correctional experience is needed, but you must pass a background inspect and physical fitness test.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee inmates and maintain order within the facility.
- Run security verifies and patrols.
- Search inmates, cells, and widespread spheres for contraband.
- Pen incident reports and keep up logs.
- Respond to emergencies and disturbances.
- Transport inmates to and from court, medical appointments, and other locations.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations.
- Supply guidance and supervision to inmates in day-to-day activities.
Conditions & Requirements
- Must be able to operate rotating shifts, such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be capable to physically restrain inmates if needed.
- Must wrap up a state-approved correctional officer training academy.
- Must uphold firearm qualification if called for.
- Subject to random drug testing.
- Must reside within a sensible distance of the facility.
